Cross-Border Tax

Moving To or From
Ireland?

Thinking of moving to Ireland, or leaving? The tax usually turns on decisions you make before you move. We work out where you stand, make sure you claim what you’re owed, and handle your first Irish return.

What This Could Be Worth To You

Keep foreign income out of the Irish net

As a non-Irish-domiciled resident, your foreign income and gains are taxed here only when you bring them into Ireland. Set this up before you arrive and it’s usually where the biggest savings are.

Keep your pre-move salary out of Irish tax

Split-year relief can take the pay you earned before moving out of the Irish charge for your year of arrival. It works the same way for the months after you leave.

Bring your money in the right order

The order you move savings into Ireland changes the tax. Bring the wrong funds first and you can create a bill that planning would have avoided, so we tell you what to move, and when.

Time your sales to cut CGT

Whether you’re Irish-resident on the day you sell shares, crypto or property can swing the tax sharply. We plan the timing around your residence and ordinary-residence position.

Stop the same money being taxed twice

When another country taxes the same income or gain, double-taxation relief and foreign tax credits offset one against the other. We handle the Irish side and square it with your adviser abroad.

Know where you stand before you commit

Before you sell, transfer or sign anything, you’ll have a clear written view of the Irish tax on each option. You make the big calls knowing what they cost, not hoping it works out.

Pricing

Simple, Transparent Pricing

One fixed fee of €1,499, the same whether you’re single or married. It covers everything from your first conversation to your filed Irish return, with no hourly billing and nothing added on later.

Recent Moves We’ve Handled

A UK couple relocating to Cork

A couple leaving the UK for Cork, one starting a job here and the other looking at a cross-border commute. We worked out when each became Irish tax resident, put them on the remittance basis, and warned them their UK ISAs would lose their tax-free status once they landed. They arrived knowing what to sell and when to move money, and we filed their first Irish return.

A US family planning a few years in Ireland

US citizens planning a few years in Ireland while holding on to property, retirement and investment accounts back home. As non-doms they qualified for the remittance basis, so we showed them how to ring-fence their existing savings, when to move money across, and lined the Irish position up with their US accountant so nothing was taxed twice.

An employee moving from Ireland to Spain

A non-dom employee leaving Ireland for Spain midway through the year, with share awards, a foreign pension and ISAs still in play. We claimed split-year relief on their salary, worked out when to sell the shares around their departure, and filed their leaving-year return.

A long-term resident retiring abroad

After a long career in Ireland, a client was retiring overseas and about to sell a sizeable foreign shareholding. Domicile drove the whole result, so we worked out and set down their non-dom position before the sale. They went ahead knowing where they stood, and we sorted a related inheritance at the same time.
